The president of the Ayawaso Norte electoral district of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tahiru Ahmed, has been suspended by the party.

The development follows allegations of violent intent leveled against NDC National Vice President Alhaji Said Sinare by Ayawaso North President.

Tahiru Ahmed is reported to have told the police that Alhaji Said was responsible for supplying some young men with weapons to cause chaos during the upcoming December 7 elections.

According to a press release issued by the party and signed by the regional secretary of the Greater Accra opposition party, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, Ahmed has been caught violating article 48 (1) of the NDC constitution.

Therefore, he has been referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee and ordered to turn over all party property in his possession to the District Vice President.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General has dropped all charges against the NDC’s national vice president.

He was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, that is, procession of firearms without legal authority and possession of firearms without legal authority.
