The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has continued its dispute over the electoral process claiming that there are 300,000 additional votes in the Ashanti region.

In another press conference before the Election Commission declared President Nana Akufo-Addo the winner of the election, the opposition party said the commission has ignored the opposition party’s concerns.

“On the declaration sheets of the various constituencies, we found that the votes in the Ashanti region had increased by more than 300,000 votes,” said NDC Deputy Secretary General Peter Otokunor.

“We have been demanding that the Electoral Commission rectify these figures. It has been very difficult and so far it has been useless, “he added.

The NDC maintains that “ballot filling became the order of the day during the voting exercise.”

He also said there were significant discrepancies in the ballots cast on the presidential and parliamentary ballots in some districts.

In the Manso-Adubia constituency, for example, Mr. Otokunor said: “You have a case in which some 15,379 people attended the electoral college, voted for the presidential and refused to vote for the parliamentary.

In provisional figures announced during President Akufo-Addo’s re-election declaration, he obtained 6,730,413 of the votes, representing 51.59 percent, while NDC standard-bearer John Dramani Mahama came in second. , obtaining 6,214,889 votes that represented 47.36 percent of the votes. votes counted so far.

The only prominent constituency is Techiman South.
