Homeland Security has intercepted one Gerard Nana Osei-Tutu for assaulting Warrant Officer WOI Mashud Salia in Ashaiman.

Likewise, the security agency has initiated investigations into the matter that occurred on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

The immediate interdiction of Gerard Nana Osei-Tutu comes after the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghanaian Armed Forces, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, instructed National Security to do so.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Information on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 and signed by the Minister of the Sector, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, stated that, “The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo learned with dismay the reports of an attack on a soldier by an official of the Office of National Communications of the Secretariat of the National Security Council, Gerard Nana Osei-Tutu.

“Following instructions from the president, the Ministry responsible for National Security has intervened, with immediate effect, to said Mr. Gerard Nana Osei-Tutu and has begun a full investigation into the incident,” the statement added.

The statement highlighted that the army plays a fundamental role in the country’s security architecture, so no infraction to the institution and its officers will be tolerated.
