National Cyber ​​Security Awareness Month to Launch October 1 | Technology

The Ministry of Communications through the National Cyber ​​Security Center (NCSC), an agency mandated to coordinate Ghana’s cyber security development, will launch its annual National Cyber ​​Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) starting on 1 October 2020.

According to a press release signed by the Ministry’s head of public relations, Naa Korkoi Essah, the month-long event will be held in a hybrid format that will include physical engagements (under strict COVID-19 protocols) and the use of virtual platforms. , including live. it broadcasts on NCSAMTV, Facebook, YouTube and is updated on various social media pages such as Instagram and Twitter.

It will include thought leadership sessions, panel discussions, workshops and engagements with the media aimed at intensifying capacity-building and awareness-raising efforts on cybercrime and cybersecurity issues among Ghanaians.

“Recognized as the leading event within the cybersecurity space, NCSAM will educate children, the public, businesses and government stakeholders on best cybersecurity practices, according to the Safer Digital Ghana campaign.”

This year’s event will have weekly high-level events; Launch of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and Online Child Protection Reporting Portal, Forum on the Impact of COVID-19 on Ghana’s Digitization Agenda, Cybersecurity Forum with industry players and other activities covering all four pillars of the Safer Digital Ghana campaign (Children, the Public, Business and Government).

Speakers include Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications, members of the National Inter-Ministerial Cyber ​​Security Advisory Council (NCSIAC), Ambassador Stephanie S. Sullivan, United States Ambassador to Ghana, Ms. Anne-Claire Dufay, Country Representative of UNICEF Ghana, Hon. George Nenyi Andah, Vice Minister of Communications, Hon. Alexander KK Abban, Vice Minister of Communications, Dr. Albert Antwi- Boasiako, National Cybersecurity Advisor, Members of the National Cybersecurity Technical Working Group and non-governmental stakeholders, including Deloitte, ISACA, e-Crime Bureau, Innovare, Surfline, Margins Group, Zerofox, CalBank among others.
The event will also attract collaboration with Ghana’s cybersecurity partners, including the Council of Europe, UNICEF, the US government’s Security Governance Initiative (SGI), and the Freedom Online Coalition (FOC), among others.

Speaking about the event, Ursula Owusu- Ekuful, Minister of Communications, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our way of life and this event will focus on how our children, the public, businesses and government institutions can ensure maximum protection. of their online activities while using digital platforms ”.

The theme of this year’s edition is “Cybersecurity in the era of CoVID-19”, which reflects current trends in cybersecurity incidents as a result of the increasing use of digital platforms by individuals, companies and governments for socio-economic activities in view of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
