On November 28, National Chief Imam Osman Nuhu Sharubutu appointed Clemence Gyato Ambassador of Peace.
Gyato, who has a master’s degree in Conflict, Peace and Security and is currently a PhD student, is widely recognized among the country’s Zongo youth and is praised for his efforts in conflict resolution, especially in the Alavanyo-Nkonya dispute, as well as in the discord among the natives of Hohoe. and the youth of Zongo.
In announcing Gyato’s appointment, Sharubutu said his office has “monitored Mr. Gyato’s participation in peacebuilding efforts in various parts of the country,” for which he was selected.
In his new role, Gyato is expected to amplify and coordinate harmony among the country’s youth, particularly in the run-up to, during and after the 2020 elections.
In his acceptance speech, Gyato cited a life-changing interaction with a Somali war victim. The story led him to understand that “no one is safe in a community or society plagued by insecurity. And no one full of conflict, despair, and anxiety reaches the zenith of any godly profession. So I decided to do only one thing: be at peace with myself and with everyone. “
The maxim, Gyato said, has been central to his vision. He also noted that his appointment is testament to the fact that leaders are closely watching his efforts. “This honor that has been bestowed on me for my small submarine operations within the space of peace is something I will greatly appreciate.
“Election-related violence has destroyed many African countries. Ghana has escaped this unfortunate conundrum and I hope the 2020 elections will be no different, ”he said.
“It is time that we see peace as neither a prelude nor an addition to the elections. It is a constant prerequisite for personal, family and national advancement. To the extent that each person values their peace of mind, it is up to us to value the peace of our brother, friend, family member, colleague, political opponents and / or even perceived enemies. “
Gyato also pledged to continue his mission of being at peace with all, as well as “speaking and acting peacefully with all men.
“I am committed to accepting diversity as a strength and using diversity to build a peaceful society. I am committed to doing more to build a peaceful Ghana, ”he added.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye, who presided over the inauguration of Gyato, Madina MP Hon. Abu-Bakar Saddique Boniface, as well as the aspiring member of the NDC for the Medina Parliament, lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu also promised peace before and after the 2020 elections.
