Education Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh says that the opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will never be able to provide free education to tertiary-level students.
According to him, the NDC is a party that lacks credibility and coupled with the fact that it cannot manage an economy, “so this promise of free education at the tertiary level is a scam.”
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has committed to absorbing the fees for all new entrants to the various tertiary institutions beginning in the 2020/2021 academic year.
The policy, dubbed “FA NINYINAA” will be an addition to the party’s “KYEMUPE” policy, which will now apply to students continuing in tertiary institutions across the country.
In response to this in an interview with Samuel Eshun, host of the Happy Morning Show on e.TV Ghana and Happy 98.9 FM, the minister said;
Former President Mahama is lying. He cannot achieve it in 2021. It is a lie ”.
For him, this is a ploy that the former president is using to win the support of the voters. “But his track record shows that he can’t do this because he lacks positive credibility.”
The Minsiter advised Ghanaians to ignore the NDC as they will put the country back into slavery.
“Kwame Nkrumah worked hard to free Ghana from colonial oppression and the former president came back to tell white people that we cannot live without them, so they should come and be Lord of us again. Why should we believe in such a person? ” I ask.
The ruling government before winning the presidential race in 2016 promised to introduce the free SHS policy and this saw the ruling party at the time, NDC, claiming that it was impossible to do so.
Now, almost four (4) years later, the NPP has accomplished a lot and has even implemented the free SHS policy.
The now-opposing NDC has also promised free tertiary education to Ghanaian students and is getting the same reaction that the NPP got when they promised the free SHS policy.
