The special voting exercise is underway in the eastern region and a total of 7,893 eligible voters are expected to participate in the exercise in 33 electoral districts in the eastern region.

Akyemansa district has the lowest voter population of 50 voters, while New Juaben South has the highest special voter population of 837.

The voting began at exactly 7:00 a.m. At the polling station of the police canteen of the Koforidua Police Training School, the first voter arrived around 4:30 am.

Covid-19 protocols are strictly adhered to. The queues have been marked to space them while regular hand washing and sanitizing of voters is practiced.

However, some members of the security staff were unable to vote because their names were not on the register.

As of 8:00 am, 12 voters had been turned down for not having their names on the list.

The Eastern Region Minister Eric Kwakye Darfuor, who was at the Regional Police Training School to observe the process, was satisfied with the exercise.

Mensah Joseph Tawiah, New Juaben South NDC Chairman, and Salas Agyekum, New Juaben South Constituency NPP Vice Chairman, expressed their satisfaction so far with the exercise, however, urged the Election Commission and the police administration to ensure that voters who could not find their names on the register have the opportunity to vote.
