The deputy director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NaDMO) in Nabdam district was killed by three unidentified gunmen in the Upper East region.
The gruesome incident is said to have occurred in the Pelungu market on Saturday, February 27.
Dominic Kulkong, 31, was shot during a transaction at a mobile money point of sale in the area.
Regional Police Command Public Affairs Officer Deputy Superintendent David Fianko-Okyere, who confirmed the killing, said police received a call reporting a robbery incident around 7 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, he indicated that the robbers had escaped and made their way with about 10 mobile devices and an amount of ¢ 750 GH after robbing two businesses in the Pelungu market.
According to him, according to eyewitness accounts, the deputy director of NaDMO was shot while trying to flee after being told to get off a motorcycle and lie on the ground.
Deputy Superintendent David Fianko-Okyere revealed that an armed gang after shooting Mr. Kulkong left the scene on an unregistered Apsonic motorcycle.
According to him, the three unidentified men participating in a mobile money transaction were neglected by the agent after sensing the danger.
Several hours later, Mr. Kulkong, who arrived to participate in a transaction, was met with his untimely death.
Meanwhile, Dominic Kulkong’s remains have been handed over to the family for burial.
