The presidential candidate of the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. John Dramani Mahama, has indicated that his security guard, who had challenges to vote in the electoral college earlier today, finally cast his vote.
Mahama filed a public complaint after casting his vote in the ongoing general elections at the electoral college of the Bole district office in the Savanna region because his bodyguard could not find his name on the voter list.
Mr. Mahama told the media: “One of my members of the security staff, I checked in here with him and during the exhibition we verified that his name was there. But today we arrived here and his name is not there and, then, I do not know if it is a general problem ”.
But hours later, the former president published on social networks indicating that “the issue with my security officer has been resolved and he has voted,” while thanking the presiding officer for his intervention.
Many thanks to the Chief Officer of the Bole District Assembly Election Board. The issue with my security officer has been resolved and you have voted.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a public notice to this effect.
The public announcement was made on the official social media page of the EC.
It read: “We have been struck by a news article by the Democratic National Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, former President John Mahama, after an interview in Bole. In that interview, the former president assured that his bodyguard was not listed in the Voter Registry and had not voted.
“The Commission notes that former President Mahama has corrected this statement.”
The notice continued: “The bodyguard, Mr. Tahiru Bombi Bakari, voted at the polling station of the district office in the Bole-Bamboi constituency. This was after the Name Reference List Officer was able to trace his name in the Voter Registry after several attempts due to Mr. Tahiru not having his voter identification card and providing his name in a different sequence to the registry ”.
