Former President John Dramani Mahama has said that he has corrected the mistakes that led to the defeat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 elections.

He revealed in an interview with TV3’s Komla Kluste that he could have done better in terms of connecting with the masses when he was president, but assured that this error was corrected ahead of the 2020 elections.

“If you talk about things that we could have done better, then it is that connection with the masses.

“Having been Minister of Communications and then Vice President I had this direct communication with the masses.

“Once you become president you have the minister of information, you have all kinds of people and you are not allowed to continue having that direct contact with the masses and then I already made that correction.

“When I became a flag bearer, I went out on the Speak Out tour. He took me directly to people and I discussed their problems with them and shared my perspectives with them as well, ”he said.

Mahama further indicated that he does not seek to return to the seat of government as president to experiment with the proposed policies and programs.

The NDC presidential candidate said that he has been there before, therefore he has a record of implementing good programs that touch the lives of Ghanaians.

To that end, he said, Ghanaians must trust him and vote for him to be president again.

He said “I don’t come to experiment, I’ve done it before, people have seen my history. I don’t think I’m coming to do any experimentation.

“We did well in infrastructure, that’s indisputable. My next focus is to take it to the next level with improvement skills so young people can find a place in the world of work. “
