The MTN Foundation has commissioned a multipurpose library and robotic center at Dansoman in the Greater Accra region.
The facility located at the Ebenezer Senior High School at a cost of ¢ 770,000 aims to equip the youth of the community with relevant knowledge and skills and improve their reading culture.
The project began 12 months ago after school officials approached the telecommunications giant with the request for the learning center.
This is part of their effort to support the government in the provision of educational infrastructure.
The ultra-modern library includes a reception area, a warehouse, a 100-seat conventional library area, a 20-seat ICT center, a world-class robotics laboratory or training center, two offices and restrooms.
Speaking at the ceremony, MTN Ghana Executive Director Selorm Adadevoh expressed his enthusiasm for the completion of the project.
“One of our fundamental mandates is to improve people’s quality of life through appropriate and sustainable interventions in the communities where MTN operates.
“In short, we have a responsibility to the people of Dansoman and we are happy to support in this way,” he said.
The CEO of MTN underlined his commitment to bring ICTs closer to Ghanaians and positively impact their lives.
Mr. Adadevoh instructed the school authorities to make good use of the facilities to ensure that it achieves its intended purpose.
“By handing over the project, I would like to encourage the authorities and beneficiaries of this facility to treat it as their own and adopt the maintenance culture necessary to preserve the facility for future generations,” he added.
