MTN Ghana has awarded more than 55 mobile money agents and merchants (MoMo) with subpoenas and submitted numbers for digital televisions and smart mobile phones.

The award ceremony was held in Koforidua to reward the loyal, dedicated and disciplined agents of MTN’s mobile money services in the eastern part of the country.

Three merchants were also rewarded with motorcycles.

Criteria for selecting awardees included how long an agent had worked for MTN, total number of quality clients an agent had registered, volume and value of transactions, zero incidents of fraud recorded at an agent’s workplace and customer feedback on agent transactions.

The award ceremony aimed to thank the agents for their hard work and encourage other agents to emulate it.

Mr. Peter Obimpe, MTN Ghana Senior Business Manager (Southeast), said the Company needed to celebrate its agents who had contributed enormously to MTN.

Mr. Peter Obimpe expressed his gratitude to the agents and merchants for their immense support of the brand in such a difficult year. He said: “This year has been difficult anyway, and you, our partners, have proven to be tougher in the midst of a pandemic.”

He also took the opportunity to encourage stakeholders and customers to stay vigilant in the fight against fraud, especially during the holiday season.

He noted that fraudsters continue to review their strategies as the company continues to intensify its education on fraud.

He reminded clients of the three golden rules that serve as a weapon in the fight against fraud. He said: “Do not reveal your PIN; Do not allow others to transact on your behalf and do not discuss your wallet with any stranger.”

He said that since 2014, the company has recognized the hard work and significant contributions of more than 5,000 agents and merchants.
