The kind of politics that is made in Ghana requires a host of new faces of political leadership to restore integrity, dignity and sanity to the system.
It is in this context that Ms Bridget Dzogbenuku, standard-bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), for the 2020 elections has promised new leadership with “bold ideas and actions” to transform Ghana.
He also vowed to restore good values, discipline and patriotism in the country when voting for power.
Ms. Dzogbenuku made the promise when she was surpassed as a PPP flagger in Accra on Saturday.
She said: “We have been promised a better Ghana and real change over the years, but all we have seen is two sizes of the same coin with a widening gap between rich and poor.”
In order for the nation to progress, he called on the electorate to vote for the PPP to implement its innovative ideas for the development of the country.
The PPP standard-bearer promised to lead an incorruptible government, to guarantee a Free Compulsory Basic Education, peace and security, growth at all levels and inclusive leadership.
He advised the public to be wary of political parties that promise gifts because they were unsustainable and discouraging.
Ms. Dzogbenuku was Papa Kwesi Nduom’s running mate on the PPP list in the 2016 general election and the first woman to be selected as the party’s presidential candidate.
Brigitte Dzogbenuku is the founder and CEO of Mentoring Women Ghana (MWG), which inspires and empowers young women and girls to make a positive difference in their communities.
Her commitment to the cause earned her the Fortune / Goldman Sachs Women’s Leadership Award in 2008.
Paa Kow Ackon, PPP’s national secretary, said the Party will promote progressive principles, policies for education for all, power to the grassroots, and provide infrastructure to care for Ghanaians to prosper in all spheres.
He described the Party as the third largest opposition party after having participated in two major elections.
Paa Ackon said the Party would “pay any price … to ensure its survival and win the 2020 general election.”
