The Member of Parliament (MP) of the New Patriotic Party (PNP) of Tarkwa-Nsuaem in the western region, George Mireku Duker, has confirmed punches with the western regional secretary of the PNP, Charles Bissue, who is also a member of the presidential staff in a meeting on Monday.

Confirming the incident in an interview with the Daily Guide newspaperDuker said Bissue bit his finger during the fight that occurred at a meeting attended by the PNP’s national campaign manager, Peter Mac Manu, and the president’s director of operations, Lord Commey.

The meeting was also attended by some national officials, executives from the Western Region of the PNP, as well as some metropolitan, municipal and district executive directors, deputies and parliamentary candidates.

Mr. Duker told the Daily Guide that he had complained to regional executives about the fact that Mr. Bissue was supporting an independent candidate in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency against him.

“So at the meeting, I made the same complaint that there is an independent candidate in Tarkwa who is being supported by some regional executives, so we should remove the issue here. After my presentation, I went to sit down, “he said.

“But before the meeting came to a close, Lord Commey asked Bissue to react to the question I raised in three minutes. Bissue went to the microphone and said that I was his friend, but one day I visited him in his office and told him that he should not believe the president and allow people to do galamsey or illegal mining, ”Duker alleged.

Mr. Duker said that “everyone present was shocked by Mr. Bissue’s comment because he was confronting him with the president, so Lord Commey took the microphone and said ‘this is not the issue we want you to discuss.

Duker said that Bissue was asked to sit down and instead of sitting in his chair, he would go to where he (Duker) was sitting fuming and threatening to hit him. [Duker].

“He would come up to me when he yelled, ‘I’ll hit you!’ So my president was even asking me to get up because Bissue was coming towards me. Behold! Bissue approached me and threw a blow at me and in defense I also threw one at him but my finger got into his mouth and chewed it, ”he alleged.

“I had a deep cut on the middle finger of my right hand. Later I went to Jemimah Hospital for treatment, ”Duker said.

Gomashie Edem Wisdom, NPP deputy electoral district secretary in Tarkwa Nsuaem, who corroborated the story with the Daily Guide newspaper, said NPP activists in the electoral district had even planned to demonstrate against Charles Bissue for supporting the independent candidate against Duker.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Mr. Bissue told the newspaper that he had not bit or bit anyone’s finger.
