José Mourinho has admitted that he is a ‘fan’ of Southampton in the Premier League.
The Portuguese spoke after watching his Tottenham Hotspur team advance to third place in the standings with a 3-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday night.
Mourinho’s team will travel shortly to face Aston Villa, who have impressed in the Premier League this season, and know the test that awaits them by their side.
“When we play, people who consider themselves the six best people say that easier games are coming, but of course I don’t think so,” he said during an interview with BT Sport.
“Leeds are tough and Aston Villa is my favorite team in the Premier League right now. I enjoy watching them, they have good players and they are very well trained. This is the following. “
Against Leeds, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min gave the Spurs a 2-0 lead in the first half, before Toby Alderweireld completed the score with a third four minutes into the second half.
The victory, a first in five, brought them to third place in the table, and Mourinho was impressed before the short league break with the focus on Carabao and the FA Cup.
“The three points are very important. I think we understood well how they could hurt us and how we could hurt them. In that aspect I am happy but I still think that we can and we have to do better ”.
The Saints are currently ninth in the standings with 26 points, seven from the leaders Liverpool and Manchester United.
Next up for Mourinho is Brentford in the Carabao Cup, before an FA Cup tie against Marine.
