With the threat of the coronavirus still lurking, Moroccan football has continued to involve health authorities in the North African country in an effort to see the end of the 2019-20 academic year.
Moroccan national football resumed two months ago after a forced suspension of Covid-19, but not without the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the kingdom’s Ministry of Health.
Under the agreement, various health measures were taken before they were resumed in late July. The measures would ensure that players, technical staff, fans and the general public adhere to health and safety protocols to minimize the risk of contracting the disease.
“Decreasing the risks related to Covid-19 would be possible only if all interested parties adhered to the measures taken,” the agreement reads.
All the actors involved in a game day situation are called to adhere to the measures: players, technical and administrative staff, referees, a sector of the fans and the general public.
Additionally, Covid-19 testing can be done during games or in preparation.
A physical routine that includes mandatory temperature tests around matches is an initiative that football has taken in Morocco to help in the fight against the coronavirus.
All Moroccan football clubs will also be required to participate in periodic screening by RT-PCR test once every two weeks. Results will determine player participation for the remainder of the season.
Those that are negative will participate more, while those that are positive will be rehabilitated by the FRMF and the national health authorities of the countries.
According to the FRMF, matches will be postponed “if a threshold of more than six players test positive.”
