Some supporters of the Democratic National Congress in the Kwesimintsim constituency have defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The defectors at Kwesimintsim Zongo, numbering more than 80, were formally active members of the NDC.

The defectors said they have worked in various ways and worked for the party throughout their years in government and opposition, but neglected.

Theophilus Fiagbe, leader of the defectors, said his decision to join the NPP was informed due to his disappointment with the NDC in the constituency.

He said: “In life, we believe that when you are on a path and you realize that there is a better way to do things, you must change course. In politics especially, which is about the welfare of people, we must constantly evaluate our position to make sure we are in line with our aspirations. We were members of the Democratic National Congress. We have worked in various ways and worked for the party throughout its years in government and in opposition. When we joined, they were assured that it was a party that had the interests of the “common person” at heart. They made us believe that the party would work on behalf of people like us and not just a few who have the privilege of being close to the people. on top.

“When in power, the NDC only serves as a vehicle for a privileged few to enrich themselves while life becomes more difficult for ordinary people like us for whom the party claims to be working. Instead of social interventions to cushion lives. of the underprivileged, we have dubious schemes that only go further into the nests of the already rich while the poor taxpayer pays the bill.As we approach the December elections, we have waited patiently to hear the plans the party has for the people of Ghana. That wait has been in vain. Neither the presidential candidate, former President Mahama, nor the parliamentary candidate here in Kwesimintsim, Mr. Philip Buckman, have shown that they understand our plight or the ideas that will improve our lives. Unfortunately, records show that this has not been the case. Despite our disappointment and unhappiness, we stayed at the party because we didn’t we were unsure of where else to find a political home. That, however, is no longer the case. me.”

They said that Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, as the parliamentary candidate for the constituency, was inspired to join the PNP and vote for the party in the December 7 general election.

“Dr. Armah’s inspiring life story, his demonstrable competence, his empathy for those in need, and his focus on politics that seeks to unite and uplift people has been a breath of fresh air in Kwesimintsim politics. Born here In Sofon Zongo in a From a Muslim father and Christian mother, his rise to the top of the academic and professional fields is proof of what hard work and dedication can do, even for someone born under the same difficult circumstances as us. What is even more comforting is the fact that he has not forgotten his roots. Despite the opportunity to live and work abroad, he chose to return to Ghana and contribute to national development. He could have chosen a life of comfort living off the earnings from his work, but he has chosen to serve the people of Kwesimintsim, including us.

“We have followed him closely as Dr. Armah has shared his vision for Kwesimintsim. We have heard him in person and through his interactions with the media, and we see someone who really cares, has the right ideas and is demonstrably capable of see his vision. He is indeed the right man for Kwesimintsim right now. In light of this, we are announcing today, to the whole world, that we are resigning our membership in the National Democratic Congress with immediate effect and joining the New Party Patriotic. We left the party of John Mahama and Philip Buckman for the party of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, “added the defectors.
