With less than three (3) months before the 2020 general elections, some 126 members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Mpreaso constituency of the Eastern Region have defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (PNP).

According to the group, they have been associated with a party that was born and raised in falsehood.

They said his main reason for leaving the NDC is that the PNP and President Nana Akufo-Addo have exceeded expectations in terms of the campaign promises he made in 2016.

The group’s leader, Evans Osei, said that when Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia indicated at the town hall meeting a few weeks ago that the PNP has achieved more than 75% of its promises, he willingly sided with them due to to the huge infrastructure. The momentum in Mpraeso alone speaks volumes about this current administration, adding that at first, “we were in the dark but now we have seen the light.”

The group, which included some members of the Assembly, declared their intention to join and campaign for the PNP in a press held in Kwahu-Mpreaso.

“Yes! It is true that we have defected from the NDC. It is not because others are defecting, but because this government is on the right track and defeats almost all the governments of this fourth republic. Its achievements in a period of three years and half are unimaginable, ”Evans Osei said.

He continued: “This government has really done well. We thought they were joking, but look how enormously they have boosted the country’s economy. He made so many promises that we think he couldn’t keep, but he’s doing it. And here in Mpraeso, we have achieved our 1D1F, in addition, this constituency is facing a great makeover in terms of development.

“The PNP led by President Akufo-Addo has good visions for Ghana and it will come true when all Ghanaians give them another four years to continue their good works,” he expressed his support.

Osei confirmed that more people are defecting and joining his group as they aim to get 98% for Nana Addo and the OPK candidate in the December polls.

“We want to win votes for Nana and Denis Opoku Ansah, the PNP parliamentary candidate for the Mpraeso constituency, so that they can continue to pull Ghana out of the crisis. This COVID-19 season has clearly shown that Ghana has a leader and it’s up to all of us to keep it or risk losing all the good stuff, “he added.

The PNP Regional Secretary, Jeff Konadu Addo, who was at the forum, thanked the members for recognizing the good works of the PNP and also for trusting the President.

Jeff Konadu Addo gladly accepted the group into the PNP.
