Mohammed Kudus has suffered an injury that will likely rule him out of the Black Stars’ friendlies against Mali and Qatar this month.
Ajax coach Erik ten Hag confirmed that the talented midfielder was injured today in training.
“Although we have also seen Mohammed Kudus work in his position. However, he dropped out during training and is now in no condition to compete, “said Ten Hag.
The 20-year-old has been ruled out of Ajax’s trip to face Groningen in the Eredivisie this weekend.
He is scheduled to undergo further testing to determine the full extent of the injury.
Meanwhile, Black Stars coach CK Akonnor and his technical team will, unsurprisingly, monitor the player’s situation to see if he can be fit in time for high-profile international friendlies.
The four-time African champions will play Mali on Friday 9 October in Turkey before taking on Qatar three days later as part of the team’s preparations for the AFCON qualifying match against Sudan.
Kudus has made two appearances for Ajax, where he has chosen a man of the match award and provided an assist so far.
He was among 23 called up by Ghana coach CK Akonnor for his international friendlies against Mali and Qatar.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp and Strasbourg’s Alexander Djiku will miss the games due to injuries.
