Gary Neville criticized Mohamed Salah for being “greedy” and “selfish” in the second half of Liverpool’s win over Arsenal.
Salah seized an opportunity from Diogo Jota as the new signing sought his first goal for Liverpool.
Jota seemed ready to put the game to bed when the ball seemed to fall towards him in acres of box space only for Salah to try to cut it off for a shot of his own and lose possession.
While Salah’s blushes saved Jota from scoring a vital third goal moments later, Neville warned Salah “you can’t do that” in his post-match analysis.
Neville told Sky Sports: “That’s the selfish part of his game.
“He thought, ‘You don’t have a goal already’ and he took it away. It was Jota’s ball.
“His greed is one of his great strengths, but he should have left it for his partner. It would never get there.
“He [Jota] I would have had a goal if it weren’t for Salah. You can not do that. Although he’s a great player, he knows it’s not a great look. “
Just a couple of weeks ago, after his hat-trick against Leeds, Salah was praised for his greed for Neville and praised his ruthless streak.

He explained on Sky Sports: “You think about the difference in mentality between Mane and Salah. Mane is nice, I think the players probably love him, he gives everything every day, he will do something selfless for the team.
“Then you look at Salah on the other side. Sometimes it doesn’t happen to his partner, he will be a little more selfish, a little less sympathetic because of that, probably because of the fans, probably because of some of his teammates.
“But then I see him as a kind of outsider as someone who looks at him thinking, ‘He’s an absolute killer in the field.’
“It reminds me of that twin follow-up to Ronaldo and Rooney in the mid-2000s, where they were both like that and that’s where Mane and Salah are.
“I think Salah will finish over Mane, not because Mane isn’t a great player, as Rooney was a great player.
“But the reason these players are different is that they have something here that means they go home at night and being the best player in the world shakes their world.
“While in reality a Rooney or a Mane feel that the team has to win, I have to give everything, fight for my players. Salah doesn’t do that. “
