Minority Leader in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu says granting GH ¢ 10.3 million to Enterprise Life Insurance as a package for frontline healthcare workers constitutes a conflict of interest on the part of the government.

According to Haruna Iddrisu, Ghanaians should know the criteria used to select and award the deal to Enterprise Life Insurance.

“On March 28, the Minister of Health at that time, the government was not sure that the health workers had announced a package for the front line health workers that they would be insured and pay GH ¢ 10.3 million to Enterprise Life.

“You will be interested in knowing who owns Enterprise Life and who benefits from the granting of insurance on behalf of Covid-19,” he said.

Haruna Iddrisu stated that the alleged abuse of power and conflict of interest is a major concern, especially during a global crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The minority leader urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability in the allocation and use of resources.

“We demand more transparency and accountability in the use of Covid-19 resources. It is not enough to say that we spend this amount. We demand better details ”, he added.
