Mino Raiola’s bid to attract the highest bidder for Erling Haaland will continue on Friday with the super agent landing in England with Dortmund forward Alf-Inge’s father for talks with interested suitors.
Raiola and Alf-Inge held a two-hour meeting with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and the club’s director of football, Mateu Alemany, on Thursday morning.
The agent then landed in Madrid, where reports in Spain claimed that he met with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Raiola and Alf-Inge’s negotiating tour will continue on Friday, and the couple will travel to London for talks with four Premier League teams.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have long held interests in the Norwegian hotshot, but the report adds that Premier League champions Liverpool will also face Raiola and Haaland Snr.
Haaland, along with Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappé, is the most popular property in world football today, and Borussia Dortmund is reportedly seeking a £ 154 million fee to reward their active club star.
The 20-year-old has made a sensational impact since arriving from RB Salzburg in January 2020, scoring 49 goals in 49 games for the Bundesliga side.
Raiola, who also represents Paul Pogba, Matthijs de Ligt and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, admitted this week that he had been “too careful” with Haaland after his astronomical rise.
“With Haaland, everyone was wrong,” Raiola told Athletic. “He did things much faster than everyone imagined.
‘Haaland is at the forefront of its own development. You are ahead of your own schedule. Maybe I was too careful when I said, “Oh no, let’s go to Dortmund instead of I don’t know where.”
“This boy, I am 100% convinced and everyone is convinced, he can move to any club, wherever he wants, already at this level.
And I could have done it last year. But maybe last year there were still teams [saying], “oh, he was at Red Bull, can he do it at another club?” It is faster than your own prediction. So yeah, Haaland is the talk of the town. ‘
City is understood to be the pioneer in sourcing Norwegian talent in this summer transfer window, with Alf-Inge previously playing for the club over a three-year period. Raiola has had a troubled relationship with City boss Pep Guardiola, but insisted the couple’s relationship would not hamper a move.
United have long admired Haaland and were linked to the Dortmund star prior to his move to Germany. Previous negotiations between United and Haaland representatives collapsed after the Premier League giants refused to comply with their demands.
It is understood that Dortmund agreed to give Raiola and the player’s father a significant portion of the value of future sales, which the Old Trafford hierarchy was reluctant to sanction.
But in December 2019, Raiola insisted that it was Haaland who rejected United’s advances after the Red Devils blamed the agent for the collapse of the deal.
Barça president Laporta has a good relationship with Raiola following the agreement the two men made in 2009 to take Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the Camp Nou.
The Norwegian forward’s agent has a much cooler relationship with Pérez, as he never transferred a player to the Spanish club.
