The Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture will deal with the administrative administration of the lack of communication with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the Minister for the sector, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, has hinted.

On Wednesday, the GTA issued directives, asking beverage bars to start operating against a previous directive from the President that such businesses should remain closed.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Tourism revoked the directives of the GTA with a counter-directive to consolidate what President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had said.

In an interview on Onak TV’s Maakye on Thursday May 14, the Tourism Minister said that the GTA should have addressed the Ministry’s directives before issuing it.

Mrs. Oteng Gyasi indicated that the conditions in the restaurants and drink bars, by imposing social distancing, caused the GTA to introduce certain elements that they periodically carry out.

The directive was something new, he said, so an agreement was reached on how they should work.

The Tourism Minister said that GTA should have followed its guidelines by its Ministry before going public.

Ms. Oteng Gyasi said the matter, however, will be dealt with through an administrative process.

“We will ask what happened for them to bring their response. That is what we will do, ”he said.

When asked if he had spoken to the GTA after the mistake between the Ministry and the GTA, Prestea Member of Parliament Huni Vally told host Bright Kwasi Asempa that “because of how the problem went, we did not get involved with the GTA, but then I talked to him and we will take care of the matter and you will hear from us. “
