The Ministries of National Security and Defense have offered an unreserved apology to Warrant Officer (WO1) Mashud Salia, who was attacked by plainclothes personnel from the National Office of Signals.
The ministers expressed the same sentiment to the Ghana Armed Forces.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 around the Tulaku junction on the Ashaiman-Akosombo highway.
Henry Quartey, Deputy Minister of National Security, and Lieutenant General Obed B. Akwa, Chief of the Defense Staff, conveyed the apology at a durbar held in Michel Camp, Tema, on Saturday with troops in the billion.
A statement signed by Colonel E. Aggrey-Quashie, Public Relations Director of the Ghanaian Armed Forces, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, assured all ranks that the matter was being thoroughly investigated and that anyone guilty would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Present at the durbar were the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General T. Oppong-Peprah, Chief of the General Staff at the General Headquarters, Rear Admiral IA Yakubu, Flag Officer Commander of the Eastern Naval Command, Cdre EA Kwafo, Director General of Personnel Administration, Air Cdre M. Appiah-Agyekum, Director of the National Office of Signals, Mr. Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and Sergeant Major of the Forces, CWO Barkar Ramous.
