Mikel Arteta thanked Arsenal fans for a “very special” night at the Emirates.
The 2,000 fans allowed cheered their team on to a comfortable victory and despite the small numbers, they still created an incredible atmosphere.
The head of the gunners, Arteta, said: “It was very special, we had 2,000, but it seemed like there were many more. It makes a huge difference and thanks to them for coming out and supporting the team.
“The club has gone to great lengths to make sure everything is organized in the right way today, so I hope the fans had a good night, they were tremendous for us.
“The guys showed a lot of energy and character on the field.
“The boys loved him, I could see from the beginning that they loved him, they were hurt by the previous game, they showed the attitude and the desire that is required.
“We were aggressive, we wanted to get the ball into the area, we created chances. Now we have another one on Sunday. “
Man of the match Alexandre Lacazette scored a 25-yard screech, while Pablo Mari, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith-Rowe also got it right as Arsenal edged Rapid Vienna to record their fifth consecutive victory in the competition.
It was Lacazette’s first goal in three months and the players clearly benefited from the support in the stadium.
Lacazette added: “It was incredible. We are very happy to see the fans, they really helped us in the game.
“Even in bad times they helped us to play well.
“It’s very nice when the fans are behind us, it wasn’t easy for me the last few weeks, but seeing the fans behind me and the team is really nice and I really enjoyed it.
“Tonight we wanted to enjoy and have the fifth victory in a row, now we have time to focus for the derby and on Sunday we will see who the winger is.”
