Mikel Arteta has warned his Arsenal players that they need to put an end to their dismal form at home immediately if they are to achieve anything relevant this season.
Arsenal have suffered six losses in 11 games to leave them languishing in 15th place, with three of those losses in their last three games with Emirates.
The next few days present Arsenal with an ideal opportunity to change the mood, especially at home as they host Burnley and Southampton consecutively.
Manager Arteta said: ‘We can’t do anything at this time about what happened in the last few weeks. We know that home form will be vital to our success and we need to change that immediately.
“So if we want to have any hope of doing something important and relevant this season, we have to win the home games.”
Arsenal’s league troubles have been a stark contrast to their Europa League form.
The competition has given Arsenal’s young fringe players a chance to shine and the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson, Folarin Balogun and Emile Smith Rowe have taken advantage of it.
They helped Arsenal score 20 goals in six games en route to winning their Europa League group with a 100% record compared to just 10 goals Arteta’s team has managed in 11 league games.
Arteta has relied on his most established attackers in the league, but insists he will have no trouble replacing them with the youngsters if his displays don’t improve.
He said: ‘When I feel like it’s the right time to do it, I have to pick the players that I have the feeling or we have the feeling as a coaching staff that have the best chance for us to win the game, so it has to be a yes.’ .
