Mikel Arteta talks about January transfer plans

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits that the club is in the process of strengthening its squad at the end of January.

Arsenal are linked to several players during this January transfer window, but have yet to sign any players. The north London team is eager to sign Martin Ødegaard on loan from Real Madrid, but faces competition with their former club Real Sociedad interested in the midfielder.

“We are in that process now. We have done the first part more or less and now we are focusing on the second phase,” Arteta said.

“Obviously this market and the context make it difficult, but we are looking for options and we will see what we can do.”

“We are looking at various positions because the move we have made in this window with some players leaving the club has left us a bit short in certain areas. So if we can, we will and if we cannot, we will go ahead with what we have.

Arsenal have already released Sokratis after the defender’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, as well as midfielder Mesut Ozil. Sead Kolasinac also left the north side of London in December and rejoined his old club, Schalke 04, on loan until the end of the season.
