Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Thomas Partey will train with the rest of his teammates on Friday as the midfielder tries to demonstrate his fitness before the Tottenham game.
Partey has been on the sidelines with an injury he sustained nearly a month ago during Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Aston Villa. The summer signing once again missed the Gunners’ 4-1 win over Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday night.
“He’s putting a lot of pressure on us,” Arteta said after the Vienna match.
“He’s training with us on Friday and let’s see how he goes in the next few days.”
About team performance
“First of all, delighted that the fans are making such a big difference again. We had 2000 but they were loud and supportive of the team so thanks to them for coming out and putting in the effort.”
“The boys wanted him, I could see from the beginning that they wanted him, they were hurt from the previous game, they showed the attitude and the desire that is required. We were aggressive, we wanted to put the ball in the area, we created chances. Now we have another one on Sunday.”
The Gunners will travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday to face Tottenham in a North London derby.
