Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong has assured Mankessim residents and the family of assassinated Mfantseman MP Ekow Quansah Hayford of justice.
He revealed that the preliminary investigation carried out by his team indicates that the MP was killed by hired killers and not by armed robbers as reported by the media.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the family to express his condolences on Monday, the business mogul said he will do everything in his power to ensure the arrest of the killers in the shortest time possible.
While warning some people who described themselves as eyewitnesses, Agyapong said their narratives were hampering the investigation by the police.
The vociferous deputy said this makes it difficult to determine the facts surrounding the attack.
Agyapong explained that the police currently have registered a man who claims to have been present during the attack on the Nkusukum Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze highway in the Central Region, but his account does not seem to add up.
He warned that if said eyewitness continues to give leaked versions of the incident to the media, the police will be forced to detain him as a suspect in the murder.
The legislator also revealed that before the death of the parliamentarian, Elvis Morris Donkoh, who is the current parliamentarian for the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese constituency, had received a call from an unknown person warning him about threats to his life.
He said Donkoh had also been urged to call the Mfantseman deputy and the PNP parliamentary candidate for the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency, as their lives were also in danger.
Agyapong urged the family to remain calm, as he is optimistic that there will be an arrest soon.
