Messi, Busquets and De Jong return to the Barcelona squad

Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong return to Barcelona’s squad for Sunday’s LaLiga clash with Osasuna.

Messi and De Jong had midweek breaks, meaning they missed a 4-0 Champions League win against Dynamo Kiev.

But it is likely that both will return directly to the starting eleven at the Camp Nou on Sunday, when Messi will hope to continue his good streak against Osasuna, having scored 22 goals in 18 LaLiga games with the Pamplona team.

Busquets has not played for Barça since a 5-2 win over Real Betis on 7 November, as he suffered a knee injury in international service with Spain.

It’s unclear if Busquets will start, but he’s apparently been deemed fit enough to at least be on the bench.

Sergino Dest has been included in the selection after suffering a muscle problem.

In case he cannot take a seat on the bench, team B defender Oscar Minguez is also there to replace him.

Barça’s most recent results against Osasuna have left much to be desired, having failed to win either of their two previous matches.

Osasuna could also think about his chances of extending that streak. After all, Barca’s 11 points from eight games this season is their worst record at this time since 1991-92.
