Kylian Mbappe is so fast that he makes his teammates Paris Saint-Germain “look like kids” in a race with Usain Bolt, says Ander Herrera, and the talented 21-year-old is tipped to land the Ballon d’Or at some stage.
Speed has always been the most devastating weapon in a talented leader’s arsenal.
A keen eye for goal has also allowed him to find the target 90 times through just 120 outings for PSG and Monaco.
Mbappe has 13 other efforts on his behalf for France, with those feats that allow him to be part of a 2018 World Cup winning team.
Despite his tender years, he has already established a reputation as one of the most exciting and fearsome leaders on the planet.
Herrera believes that the young man will fill that talent pool, and the Spanish midfielder acknowledges that the club’s colleagues may seem silly in training sessions.
He told ESPN of Mbappe: “Sometimes in training, it’s like I’m training with kids. The way he runs, the way he moves, he leaves you behind.
“It seems that we are children, 12 years old, and he is Usain Bolt. And when he is in front of the goalkeeper he has the ability to stop, be cold and score many goals. That is not easy.”
“He has the balance between speed, strength and calm to score goals. In 2025, he could be the winner of the Ballon d’Or.”
Mbappe will have the ambition to be recognized as the best player in the world long before that point.
Neymar is another PSG star who is eager to get a coveted Ballon d’Or in her hands sometime in the near future.
A move to France was supposed to see him become a talismanic figure in his own right, when he emerged from the shadow of Lionel Messi in Barcelona in 2017.
However, the transfer conversation has continued to enrage the Brazilian during his time at Parc des Princes, and the return to Camp Nou was once again debated in front of another window.
Herrera insists that the 28-year-old forward is happy with his current environment and has given no indication that he will push for more elsewhere.
The former Manchester United star added to Neymar: “It is one of the biggest surprises I have come across in my career because when the media talks it is not always positive. They are always trying to find a way to kill him.”
“But I found a guy who is happy every day, who is trying to strengthen the group. He organizes dinners at his house so that we can be together and tries to earn as many trophies as possible.”
