Asante Kotoko Executive Director Nana Yaw Amponsah has explained that the club did not sign Mathew Anim Cudjoe because they were unable to meet the demands of the teenager’s manager.

Speaking for the first time on the subject, Amponsah said that Cudjoe’s manager, Samuel Anim Addo, asked for $ 250,000, an amount he thought was huge.

“Mathew Anim’s agent Cudjoe was citing a loan of $ 250,000, but the coach [Maxwell Konadu] I didn’t want a player on loan. I spoke with Samuel Anim Addo that the money was huge, but he still demanded that amount, ”he was quoted on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

Kotoko wanted to sign the talented winger to a permanent contract after an exceptional loan. Cudjoe, with no first-team experience, emerged as one of Kotoko’s best players during the canceled 2019/20 season.

Kotoko remembers the 17-year-old for his impressive performance as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Hearts of Oak at Accra Sports Stadium. He won the penalty that resolved the tight match in favor of Kotoko.

Cudjoe is currently on the Legon Cities books, joining them on the day of the transfer deadline. Cudjoe is believed to have been included in Asamoah Gyan’s big deal as Anim Addo is also the business manager of the legendary Black Stars forward.
