Martin Keown criticized Tottenham’s performance in the first half against LASK, as the former Arsenal defender accused the team of looking towards the North London derby this weekend.
Spurs traveled to Austria needing a point to seal their Europa League group qualification, but looked well off-beat in the first leg against their rivals.
And when Peter Michorl opened the scoring with a good effort from the wing, few could say that José Mourinho’s team was unlucky enough to have suffered the setback.
Keown closed the first 45 minutes from the Premier League side, claiming that Mourinho’s men had an eye on Sunday’s crucial derby in the top flight.
“Oddly disjointed,” Keown said of the first-half display. ‘I would be very interested to know what this man (Mourinho) tells them at half-time, because he needs to regroup them.
“There are one or two playing, there are three players that normally play the main games… maybe they look like ‘I’m not sure I want to play this’, maybe they are looking towards the weekend.
“ The ones out there who should be gutting don’t seem confident or have a game plan. Tottenham often let the teams get close to them and not take the game to them, they should be doing that here. ‘
Former Spurs star Peter Crouch agreed with Keown’s assessment, agreeing that the Premier League leaders seemed “disjointed.”
“There just hasn’t been a lot of urgency on defense,” he added. Most of them are walking. It has not been what we are used to this season. They are lucky to have awarded one.
