Romero has earned a reputation as a dependable understudy for David de Gea in recent years, but the 33-year-old Argentine has slumped down the pecking order following the return of Dean Henderson from Sheffield United and has not appeared this season.
His compatriot Red, 30, has also not appeared this season, last playing for United more than a year ago as a substitute in the 89th minute in the team’s 3-1 home win against Brighton.
It’s been a similar story for Jones since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from José Mourinho and the England international looks ready for the starting gate at Old Trafford after nearly a decade of service.
According to Manchester evening news, all three have been identified as players the Red Devils could eliminate this winter, and Timothy Fosu-Mensah is also seriously considering his future in the Northwest.
Both Romero and Rojo are out of contract at United next summer, while Jones has a contract at the Theater of Dreams until 2023.
The injury-prone center-back has made just seven Premier League starts since putting a new four-and-a-half-year contract in writing in February 2019.
Romero’s wife attacked the Red Devils in an explosive Instagram post last month after the shooting stopper was denied its exit deadline.
Everton were interested in securing a loan deal for the Argentine international, but United were only willing to let him go permanently and talks on a deal fell through.
‘Sergio Romero worked hard for his club,’ Eliana Guercio posted angrily on Instagram.
‘Last trophy they won, they lifted it with him.
He helped the team reach four finals / semi-finals and then they put him on the bench only to lose them all.
It is time for them to return the opportunity and let it go. RESPECT FOR ONE TIME !!!! ‘
