Manchester United fans have urged the club to stick with Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window following his latest heroics with Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland scored two goals and opened one in the first half of Dortmund’s Champions League round of 16 first leg against Sevilla.

The German team trailed from the start at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium to a goal from Fernández Sáez, but Haaland gave Mahmoud Dahoud an assist for the equalizer in the 19th minute.

Haaland then bagged a double himself, one set by Jadon Sancho, scoring in the 27th and 43rd minutes to put Dortmund up 3-1 at the break.

The prolific 20-year-old Norwegian international has become one of the best properties in European football.

He has been heavily linked to a big money move away from his current club, and United and Manchester City are reportedly among a number of potential suitors.

Following Haaland’s latest exploits, United supporters took to social media to make their feelings clear.

An optimistic user said on Twitter: “We need to close the deal with Erling Haaland tonight.”

Another tweeted: “Should it be the top priority for #MUFC in the summer? Signing it would take us from the top 4 to instantly challenge for the title again. I would love it!”

Meanwhile, a third fan added: “Ole Gunnar promises you the world … Please.”

Haaland has previously played with fellow Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Molde.

And United manager Solskjaer has admitted that he is still “following” the youngster’s career closely.

“Erling will have a fantastic career,” Solskjaer told Norwegian outlet VG.

“I’m following Erling. I’ve always said that. Was it 18 months together or something? Almost two years, maybe. A wonderful time.

“He will definitely have a great career for both Norway and his club.

“He’s doing incredibly well for Dortmund so we’ll see where he ends up.”

Manchester United’s European campaign resumes this week when they travel to Turin to face Real Sociedad in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32.

“As a Norwegian and someone who has worked with him, of course it’s fun that he does it so well.

“We will do what we can to become a better team, then he will do what he can to become a better player.

“Where does it end? I don’t want to say anything more than that, that I wish him all the best. The choice he makes will be up to him.”
