United gives injury update

Manchester United could run out of as many as six players for a Champions League visit to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

David de Gea came out at halftime in the 3-2 win at Southampton after hitting the wood as he couldn’t stop James Ward-Prowse from scoring and Alex Telles was also forced to start late with a ‘problem’.

Paul Pogba (ankle) and Scott McTominay could return to training on Monday after missing last week’s two victories over Istanbul Basaksehir and Southampton and Luke Shaw could miss again with a hamstring strain.

Anthony Martial traveled with the United team but became ill overnight and stayed at the team’s hotel on Sunday instead of traveling to the stadium.

Here’s what Solskjaer had to say about the injuries:

“[De Gea’s injury] it is a hit just above the knee. So we will and we will review it tomorrow. Hopefully he’s ready by Wednesday, but now he can’t promise anything. Dean came in very safe, he had a pair of saved socks to do but was neat and safe with the ball at his feet.

“Anthony had to stay at the hotel, got sick during the night and is still down here. Hopefully Paul and Scott can start training with us tomorrow, Luke is still out, we’re not 100% sure.

“Jesse [Lingard]it’s back. Phil Jones is out [and also ineligible]. David: I don’t know how he will react to his punches and blows. Alex had a problem towards the end, but I hope it’s not so bad. “
