Manchester United manager Solskjaer aims to attack Carlos Tevez after wild speculation by Sergio Agüero

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not expect Sergio Aguero to be interested in joining Manchester United this summer and criticized Carlos Tevez for making the move in the opposite direction.

Aguero will be a free agent after a decade of service at Manchester City and United are in the market for a forward, but Solskjaer hopes Aguero’s loyalty will rule out a move across the division.

Solskjaer said he could never have considered trading United for City once he achieved the grade at Old Trafford, but that didn’t stop Tevez from leaving for Etihad in July 2009.

While City did not sign Tevez directly from United, with the Argentine spending two years on loan at Old Trafford, the forward was happy to fan the flames once he made the move.

City’s ‘Welcome to Manchester’ sign announcing his arrival caused controversy and Tevez angered United players in subsequent matches on derby day.

City confirmed that Aguero will leave the Etihad this summer midweek and with speculation about his future, Solskjaer was asked if he could imagine any player changing blue for red, or vice versa, in Manchester again, as Tevez did. 12 years.

While Solskjaer did not mention Tevez directly, the implication was clear when he explained why he could never have made a similar move and why he also does not expect Agüero to be interested in doing so.

“When I was playing for Man United, if a rival club tried to sign me and I had gone … well, where is the loyalty?

“I wouldn’t expect any player who has played for a club for 10 years to want to go to their local rivals. It’s not for me. I know we are professionals, but when you play for Man United you don’t go to Man City.

“We have had examples of that and I really don’t agree with that. I won’t name names, but everyone knows who I mean. Enough talk.”
