Manchester United have made a formal offer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Méndez, according to reports from Portugal.
The Red Devils are said to be keeping an eye on the Juventus forward’s situation, amid reports that the Serie A club wants to cut its wage bill.
And United has reportedly ventured, with the Portuguese publication Record, via SportWitness, claiming that Ronaldo is reflecting on the offer but remains focused on Juve.
Ronaldo is Juventus’ highest paid player and earns a staggering £ 28 million per season.
It seems plausible that the Italian champions want the 35-year-old not to pay his salary, and that United are willing to bring him home, but the transfer seems unlikely.

The Red Devils, who have tightened their pockets in recent months due to the coronavirus pandemic, need a new center-back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unlikely to spend any money in January, but he will certainly look to bring in a defender in the summer and rekindle United’s interest in Jadon Sancho.
Ronaldo, however, will not be short of suitors, with Paris Saint-Germain also linked.
An obvious transfer would be a trade with Neymar heading to Turin, but the Brazilian currently earns more than Ronaldo, which would be an obstacle for Juve.
Troy Deeney, meanwhile, suggested that Ronaldo move to the Wolves, where his agent Mendez represents several Portuguese players.
Deeney told talkSPORT: “I would look more at a club like Wolves with the Portugal connection, that would work. [Ronaldo] he still has incredible talent. You are not going to get the same Ronaldo that you had at Manchester United. That will always be the comparison. ”
