Manchester United have yet to set a date for their postponed match against Burnley

A Manchester Evening News report claims Manchester United are awaiting a response from the Premier League regarding their postponed match against Burnley which has not yet been scheduled.

United were scheduled to play Burnley on matchday one of the Premier League. But the game on September 12 was postponed to 2021 due to United being in the UEFA Europa League in August.

The match does not have an assigned date yet, as 2020 comes to an end. United and Burnley have no midweek games in the week beginning January 11.

Manchester United already has 8 games in December.

However, a possible meeting between the two has yet to be planned for that week. United play in the FA Cup third round against Watford on January 9. Their next meeting after that is a trip to Liverpool on the 17th.

A hectic party list

It’s been a hectic match list for the club that has them playing 8 games already in December. On top of that, United are scheduled to play again before the new year when they face the Wolves on Tuesday.

United also play Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final in the first week of January.

The date of that match has been cast in a shadow of doubt after City had their league match against Newcastle United postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak within their team.

However, the city cannot lose the semi-final, as that rule does not apply after the fourth round. This means that it can only be postponed. (h / t Manchester Evening News)

If it comes to that, the two Manchester clubs will have plenty of time to reschedule the match. The final will now be played in April instead of February, saving the two clubs from headaches.
