Manchester United are just six goals away from scoring 10,000 in club history.
After accumulating 112 goals in all competitions last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, United have 9,994 goals and will be looking to reach the milestone as soon as possible at the start of the new campaign.
United’s 2020/21 Premier League season starts a week later than most of its rivals, as its participation in last season’s Europa League knockout stages, delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, meant that They didn’t end until August 16. Solskjaer will be eager to see his forwards Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood enter the roster as soon as possible and pursue that 10,000 milestone. The Norwegian also has Odion Ighalo at his disposal, in addition to the new attacking midfielder signing Donny van de Beek and he also hopes to have Jadon Sancho on his team as United pursue his signature.
Solskjaer himself scored United’s 8,000th goal against Leeds in 2001, while Wayne Rooney scored the 9,000th goal against West Ham in 2010. United’s website claims the club’s unofficial number of goals is already high. Higher than 2010, although previous iteration club records like Newton Heath were not all recorded.
