Gabriel Jesus is the latest Manchester City star to receive a new and improved contract.
Jesús currently has two and a half years left on his current contract, but City is believed to be willing to double his salary to £ 150,000 a week to encourage the forward to agree to new terms.
The news comes after coach Pep Guardiola committed his future with the club until 2023.
Jesus joined the club in a £ 25 million deal in January 2017 and has appeared 104 times in the Premier League.
During his time at City, Jesús scored 43 goals and won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup.
According to the Daily Star, Jesus’ salary increase is part of City’s plan to tie up its best players before Guardiola’s next chapter.
In addition to Jesus, talks on Kevin De Bruyne’s future at Etihad Stadium are believed to be progressing well and he is expected to sign a contract worth £ 350,000 a week until 2025.
While Raheem Sterling’s existing deal of £ 300,000 a week must increase to ensure that the England star is with the club during the peak years of his career.
Sterling contributed 10 goals in the coach’s first season and has had a lasting impact ever since.
In his subsequent seasons, Sterling returned 23, 25 and 31 goals and won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and three League Cups.
His importance to City is underlined by the fact that he has been involved in each of their games so far this season, starting all three in the Champions League and seven of eight in the Premier League.
Sterling has also scored five times this season and had four assists for Man City.
