Man Utd has a player improving after Everton’s win, but there’s a problem | Soccer Sport

Just when Manchester United seems ready for another crisis, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scores a much-needed victory. Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani were the headlines for their goals against Everton on Saturday and with good reason. But Luke Shaw’s improvement was remarkable throughout the match, with the England international impressing at both ends of the field.

United entered Saturday’s showdown with Everton under pressure.

After losing to Arsenal and Istanbul Basaksehir last week, Solskjaer needed his team to come together and score three vital points.

Things got off to a rocky start when Everton opened the scoring through Bernard, with the Brazilian international outscoring David De Gea after misguiding Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

But, from that point on, the Red Devils got better.

They tied through Fernandes, with the 26-year-old heading home for his fifth goal of the campaign.

And he landed number six shortly thereafter, with his curling effort beating Jordan Pickford, who was anticipating a touch from Marcus Rashford.

United had to dig deep at times, but they secured victory in the end through Cavani, with the Uruguayan international easily beating Pickford to score his club for the first time.

But Shaw was impressive against Everton, getting his second assist in as many games.

The beautiful center of the England international was led home by Fernandes for United’s draw, giving Pickford no chance in the process.

That came days after he attended Anthony Martial in Istanbul and suggests he is benefiting from competition from Alex Telles, who joined from Porto in the summer transfer window.

United will now be hopeful that Shaw will continue to excel in attack, something that Patrice Evra and Denis Irwin were particularly talented at during their stints at the club.

But the problem is, however, that you may now be ready for a spell on the sidelines.

Shaw was forced to leave the game against Everton with a hamstring injury and, speaking later, Solskjaer was furious with the FA for the clash of matches.

“We were prepared to fail,” Solskjaer said after the game.

“Luke Shaw got injured today because we were in Turkey Wednesday night, we came back Thursday morning and we played Saturday lunchtime. It’s an absolute disaster.”

“I want to commend the boys for the character they have shown. They deserve better than being thrown out here to fail today. The authorities set us up to fail.

“How can I prepare for a kick-off today at 12:30? City and Liverpool played on Tuesday and are back on Sunday. Who is responsible? We’ve had enough. I’ve had enough.

“Prepare for a Sunday. After that it is an international break. There is no discussion.”

Then he added: “Mason Greenwood wasn’t feeling well last night and Luke hamstring could be long. I think Marcus Rashford is (also) struggling. Those are the demands of the players.”
