Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has delivered his verdict on the club’s performance during the concluded summer transfer window.
United secured the signings of 18-year-old midfielder Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani and Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo. Club supporters were far from satisfied as United missed No. 1 goal Jadon Sancho, who remained at Borussia Dortmund.
However, Matic has a different view of the transfer business, insisting that the club managed to sign “quality players”.
“We have signed quality players, so we will see what they can bring to our team,” said Matic.
“We are happy to see them. Hopefully they can fit in very well with our team and they can win some trophies with us.”
One of United’s controversial transfers was the arrival of free agent Edinson Cavani, who was late for the deadline but Matic greeted the Uruguayan.
“I played against him a few times. A great player, a great player.”
“He has a lot of experience. He always scores goals. So I hope he continues to do the same job for us.”
“We are always excited to see someone come in and of course it is always good to see new faces in the team, especially when we hire quality players like we did. So I’m happy.”
