A man was shot after he tried to snatch a ballot box from him while EC officials counted votes in the Awutu Senya West constituency.

Speaking on JoyNews, correspondent Kofi Adjei said that the victim had gone to the polling station with other people.

The men who intimidated the EC officials destroyed chairs when they first arrived at the polling station.

The reporter told Evans Mensah that a police officer, who was stationed in the area, fired a shot when the men tried to steal the ballot boxes.

The bullet hit one of the perpetrators and he was taken to hospital after suffering injuries from the gunshot.

Meanwhile, his accomplices have been arrested and the police have started their investigation, he added.

Kofi Adjei explained that it is not yet known which party these men tried to help by snatching the ballot boxes.

However, the police have promised to inform the media after questioning and investigating the matter.

This news comes hours after two people were injured in the Awutu Senya East constituency after a group of men opened fire on them.
