Here are the headlines for Manchester City’s night on Sunday, May 10.
Van Dijk choosing Liverpool over the city
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has explained why he decided to join the Merseyside club before others, including Manchester City.
The Dutch colossus dismissed the City’s interest in making a £ 75 million move to Anfield in January 2018.
Van Dijk told BT Sport: “Before making the decision to choose Liverpool, I examined all aspects of the clubs; the way of playing, the teammates, the future too.
“The city, the fans, it all has to be a big part of joining a club.
“I think Liverpool at the time, when I made the decision, was the right decision, and obviously reaching the Champions League final in my first six months was a huge advantage.”
The 28-year-old had been linked with City when he was with Southampton, to the extent that his teammates bought him a Blues shirt at his 2016 Secret Santa.
