Manchester City will look to tie its top stars to extended contracts this January, rather than enter the transfer market, according to Dean jones of Eurosport.
Following Pep Guardiola’s signing to a new contract in November, Manchester City’s gaze immediately shifted to retaining their best players for the upcoming season.
Kevin de Bruyne is reportedly next on the list of stars that the club’s hierarchy wishes to secure for the future, and Raheem Sterling and John Stones are also believed to be in the race for better deals.
Some fans have been asking Manchester City to bring in reinforcements in the January window to help fuel a successful second half of 2020/21; However this seems unlikely.
The focus at the club appears to be on keeping the key players, although there is a prospect of splurging in the summer window.
Manchester City has been linked with the addition of a left back and a forward. But it seems that tying the aforementioned key players into long-term deals is considered the priority in the current window.
