Mali’s transitional president thanks Akufo-Addo for his role in resolving the political deadlock

Mali’s Transitional President Bah N’daw thanked the President and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State, Nana Akufo-Addo, for the role he has played so far in helping to resolve the political deadlock in Mali.

At a meeting at the Koulouba Palace, the seat of Mali’s Presidency, on Sunday President N’daw applauded President Akufo-Addo’s decision to convene a meeting to resolve the deadlock in Mali, immediately after his election as President of ECOWAS. .

According to the Acting President of Mali, it is as a result of the proactivity of President Akufo-Addo and the decisions made at the ‘Peduase Meeting’ of the ECOWAS Authority that resulted in the appointment of an Acting President, a Vice President and a First Minister. Minister of Mali.

As a result of this fact, the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State has also lifted the sanctions imposed on Mali as a result of the military seizure of power, in order to support the transfer to civilian government and the process of restoring democracy full in Mali.

With the transition scheduled for a period of 18 months, President N’daw indicated to President Akufo-Addo that he has appointed 25 people to direct the country’s affairs, with the aim of returning the country to the path of multi-party democracy. .

For his part, President Akufo-Addo thanked the leaders of the interim government of Mali for the welcome they extended to him and his delegation, and for their decision to work hand in hand with ECOWAS so that the country fully returns to a civil government.

He assured President N’daw of ECOWAS’s full cooperation towards the progress and development of Mali and, ultimately, the improvement of the standards of the Malian people.

President Akufo-Addo also held private meetings with the Vice President, Colonel Assimi Goita; the prime minister, Moctar Ouane, after his meeting with the interim president. He also held meetings with members of the Diplomatic Corps, as well as with members of the Ghana Community living in Mali.

It will be recalled that Mr. N’DAW, retired Major Colonel and former Defense Minister, was sworn in as President of the Transition on August 25, before the Supreme Court, together with Colonel Assimi Goïta, Chief of the Board, as Transitional Vice President in charge of Defense and Security.

Following this measure, a dozen political and military personalities detained during the coup have also been released, including former Prime Minister Boubou Cissé.
