The executive director of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has rejected claims from the minority in Parliament that the sitting government spent $ 10 million to investigate the cocoa route project built under the Mahama-led administration.
Joseph Boahen Aidoo told Joy News that the minority has misled Ghanaians about the exact amount the government spent to investigate the cocoa route projects.
“They are not being honest with the Ghanaians. It doesn’t get close to what they are saying. We pay in Ghana cedis and they are making accusations ”.
Mr. Boahen Aidoo challenged all parties involved in the accusations to present the specific expenditures that the incumbent government assumed.
He believes the false accusation is part of the minority’s ploy to force the government to make a statement on the matter.
Despite the accusations, Boahen Aidoo refused to reveal any details about the alleged expenditures made by the government, except to say: “They have entered the sewers and I would not want to go there.”
According to him, there was an initial report that established ghost roads in the Korkou highway project under the government led by Mahama.
However, he declined to list the names of the alleged ghost roads stressing that there were overlaps.
The CEO of Cocobod stated: “For example, from here to Circle, the same road was divided into three parts and the cost calculation was done. There were some overlaps. “
Mr. Boahen Aidoo revealed that the country’s highway agencies recommended an architectural and engineering firm to assist Cocobod in the review.
