Kobby Mensah, a member of former President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign team, has denied the claim that there was a grudge between the founder of the Democratic National Congress (NDC) Flt. Jerry John Rawlings and the NDC standard bearer.
For him, the largest opposition Democratic National Congress (NDC) has had a fruitful relationship with its founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings, regardless of public perception of a dispute between the party leadership and the party founder.
Speaking on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ morning show to express his disgust for the Akufo-Addo-led government that hijacked the funeral arrangements of the late President JJ Rawlings, the former NDC parliamentary hopeful for the Ningo-Prampram constituency He also said that the NDC was having a good and healthy relationship with the late President Rawlings.
He stressed that there was strong communication between former President John Dramani Mahama and the late President Rawlings despite the perception that they are not talking to each other.
He added that former President John Dramani Mahama has been following the late President Rawlings’ advice to the latter; therefore, NDC presidential candidate John Mahama remains former President Rawlings’ most beloved son in the party.
“Communication between former President Mahama and the late President Rawlings was strong. John Mahama and Rawlings had a strong relationship and John Mahama was their most beloved son in the group who followed all of Rawlings’ advice. So whoever says we never had a good relationship with Rawlings is not true, “he said.
He stated that the NDC, like any other corporate entity, has its directors and investors, making it a publicly owned entity.
He reiterated that the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, did not establish the party to make it an authentic property of his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and his family, but for the entire nation.
However, he claimed that the late President Rawlings endorsed former President John Mahama for the presidency in the latest video that circulated on social media before his death to show that he has the NDC at his heart.
“The latest video of Rawlings and a girl circulating on social media indicates that the man loves the NDC; he backed the number 2 on the ballot and it means that the man has NDC in his heart, “he postulated.
