The Democratic National Congress (NDC) tour of the Ashanti region has made a brief detour to check on the victims of an accident that involved party supporters.
The group, led by NDC flag bearer John Dramani Mahama, visited the Ejura Government Hospital after an accident in Frante claimed the lives of six people traveling to join the party’s campaign ahead of the December elections. .
Eyewitnesses say the accident occurred when the bus carrying the supporters was run over by a motorcycle, causing the driver to lose control of the truck.
In the incident that occurred in the municipality of Ejura Sekyedumase on Saturday, another 50 people were injured and 15 in critical condition.
Hospital health workers work around the clock to save the lives of those involved.
John Mahama was in the company of campaign manager, Professor Joshua Alabi, President Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, NDC Ashanti Regional Deputy Secretary Matthew Kojo Njourkone, among other great party players in the region.
Addressing the people of Ejura after visiting the hospital, he sympathized with the family of the deceased.
While expressing his belief in a speedy recovery for the victims, he stated that the municipality was at the center of his campaign and will do more to develop the area.
The deceased have been transferred to the Morgue of the Hospital of the Government of Ejura.
